Take a CryptoPunk. The same 24x24 sprite everyone knows. Now swap out every flat color for a chunk of a GIF. Neon signs, rainy streets, old TV static, whatever fits.
The shape stays the same. But now the whole thing moves. Each color is its own little clip, so you get this collage effect where a punk is made out of a dozen different loops at once.
